A strategy is a general plan to achieve one or more long-term or overall goals under conditions of uncertainty. Building a resume is more than just putting your information down on paper. If that was all you needed to do an application would be sufficient in presenting yourself to a potential employer. A resume goes much further, it allows you the opportunity to show-case yourself and your many marketable skills. A well thought out resume that is presented with a specific target in mind can and will set you apart.
For instance if you are a skilled plumbing inspector and are trying to further your career by becoming a senior plumbing inspector. I would tailor every part of my resume and cover letter to fit within the niche skill-set of a plumbing inspector.

In this step we are going to work through employment history. I recommend working in revers chronological order, this will help you think through your most recent work experiences first; then you can add jobs and experience as you move further back into time.
This step systematically leads you through your work history so that you can have snap-shots of your strengths and weaknesses. Even if you are fresh out of school and have only worked odd jobs or been employed through work study programs, a strong presentation of your employment experience shows future promise.
